WOMEN’S AGENDA
Our campaign has developed a plan to protect reproductive rights, improve women’s health care and give women a level playing field in the workplace
In 2022, women continue to demand equal rights — the right to basic health care, to live free of sexual assault and harassment, to live free of discrimination, and to make their own life choices and pursue theirdreams. Rights that are even more endangered by the current makeup of the U.S. Supreme Court. We are not the first generation to demand these rights, and we are more determined than ever. We are showing our tenacity in the streets, with our vote, and by running for office in unprecedented numbers. That is why our campaign has developed a plan to protect reproductive rights, improve women’s health care and give women a level playing field in the workplace. We propose to:
Require comprehensive sex education: New York does not have standards to teach comprehensive sex education. Comprehensive sex-ed should be required for all students in our state and New York should be the leader in the creation of a plan to teach comprehensive sex education.
Establish clear policy on sexual harassment and assault: Elected lawmakers need to lead by example. We need to finally establish a clear process for handling sexual harassment and assault allegations. Victims deserve an independent, expeditious investigation. Perpetrators must be held accountable.
Level the playing field for women in our society: Adopt a comprehensive approach that includes passing the Dream Act so that immigrant women can pursue their studies, expanding NYC’s salary history ban statewide, banning revenge porn often used to victimize women, and prioritize childcare and pre-K funding, among other initiatives.
